GGEC serves youth, teens, adults, seniors, and individuals with disabilities, with a focus on families and underserved communities across Philadelphia. We meet people where they are and provide inclusive, supportive spaces that promote learning, wellness, and opportunity.

Our programs are designed to build skills, confidence, and long-term stability for individuals and families across Philadelphia.

GGEC delivers holistic, wraparound services that uplift the body, mind, and spirit. Each program is rooted in access, opportunity, and empowerment—meeting people where they are and helping them move forward with dignity and purpose.

Our Programs

Health, Fitness & Aquatic Safety

This program saves lives while strengthening bodies and spirits. Through swim lessons, CPR certification, and wellness training, GGEC empowers youth, seniors, and families to take charge of their health and safety. Many Philadelphia residents lack access to proper swim instruction—GGEC closes this gap by offering certified lifeguard training and aquatic safety education that builds confidence and creates job opportunities. With sustained funding, this program operates year-round, promoting physical and mental well-being in a safe, faith-centered environment.

Culinary Arts, Nutrition & Food Security

GGEC’s Culinary Arts Program combines professional cooking instruction, nutrition education, and ServSafe certification with hands-on community impact. Participants gain marketable skills for food-service careers while learning how to prepare healthy meals for their families. Through our community kitchen, GGEC addresses food insecurity by preparing and distributing thousands of meals annually. Funding supports the expansion of this initiative into a full culinary training facility that feeds families, supports local restaurants, and strengthens Philadelphia’s food economy.

Creative & Vocational Arts

Creativity is the heartbeat of innovation. GGEC’s Creative & Vocational Arts Program blends hands-on training with economic empowerment through sewing, welding, and design workshops. Participants develop marketable skills, explore small business opportunities, and showcase their work through GGEC-supported arts markets. With access to equipment, materials, and mentorship, local artists and tradespeople are empowered to turn their talents into sustainable income while beautifying and uplifting the community.

Auto Mechanic Training

GGEC’s Auto Mechanic Training Program transforms passion into purpose by teaching the mechanical, diagnostic, and business skills needed to maintain modern vehicles. With certified instructors and industry-grade tools, participants prepare for ASE certification and immediate employment or entrepreneurship. Beyond technical skills, the program restores confidence and creates pathways out of unemployment. Funding supports expanded equipment, certification assistance, and stipends so more participants can build stable, family-supporting careers.

Welding & Skilled Trades

The Welding & Skilled Trades Program equips participants with training in welding, metalwork, and industrial safety—leading to OSHA-approved certifications and apprenticeships. Graduates often transition directly into union jobs or launch their own contracting businesses. With additional funding, GGEC will expand welding bays and scholarship access, ensuring no one is turned away from an opportunity to build a future through high-demand, high-wage skilled trades.

Carpentry & Building Maintenance

This program builds more than structures—it builds stability. Participants learn carpentry, building repair, blueprint reading, and facilities maintenance skills that lead to long-term employment and self-reliance. Through hands-on training in construction safety and woodworking, graduates are prepared for careers in property maintenance and development. Expanded funding allows GGEC to partner with local developers on neighborhood revitalization projects, turning blighted properties into affordable housing and community spaces built by local hands.

Electrical & HVAC Training

GGEC’s Electrical & HVAC Training Program prepares participants for careers in essential, high-demand trades. Through training in electrical systems, heating, cooling, and modern technologies, participants gain the skills needed for certification and livable-wage employment. Graduates help keep homes and businesses running safely and efficiently. With sustained funding, GGEC will expand equipment and instructor capacity, increasing access to life-changing technical education across Philadelphia.

Theater, Film & Media

GGEC’s Theater, Film & Media Program empowers youth and adults to tell their own stories through creative expression. Participants learn to write, direct, produce, and perform original works through acting workshops, film editing labs, and community productions. The program builds confidence, creativity, and career-ready media skills while expanding access to stage and studio opportunities that amplify community voices and inspire positive change through the arts.

Performing Arts, Dance & Music

Music and movement heal, connect, and inspire. This program provides youth and adults with access to professional dance instruction, vocal training, and instrumental music education. Participants develop discipline, confidence, teamwork, and performance skills while exploring careers in the arts and entertainment industry. GGEC showcases local talent and fosters unity through cultural expression in safe, supportive environments.

Childcare & Early Learning Center

GGEC’s Childcare & Early Learning Center provides a nurturing, faith-centered environment for children from newborns through age 12. The program offers early childhood education that prepares children for kindergarten and lifelong learning while supporting working families and caregivers. Parents can pursue employment or education knowing their children are safe, loved, and learning in a supportive community setting.

After-School & Tutoring Program

This program offers a safe, supportive space for children to complete homework, receive one-on-one tutoring, and grow academically and socially. Beyond academics, students are mentored in leadership, respect, kindness, and responsibility while discovering their God-given potential. Enrichment activities support whole-child development and help students succeed in school and beyond.

GED, Literacy & Adult Education

It is never too late to learn. GGEC’s GED, Literacy & Adult Education Program supports adults seeking to complete their high school education, improve reading and writing skills, or prepare for higher learning. Compassionate instructors provide individualized support that builds confidence, perseverance, and academic success. Graduates are better prepared to pursue employment, continued education, and personal growth.

Job Readiness & Workforce Placement

Meaningful employment restores dignity and stability. This program prepares participants for today’s workforce through resume development, interview coaching, soft-skills training, and employer partnerships. Job seekers gain essential skills such as time management, communication, and professionalism while connecting directly with local employers. The program supports long-term employment and economic independence for individuals and families.

Vocational Certifications & Licensing

GGEC’s Vocational Certifications & Licensing Program equips participants with industry-recognized credentials that increase employability and earning potential. Training and certification pathways are offered in high-demand fields including construction, childcare, culinary arts, and safety training. By removing barriers to credentialing, this program helps individuals advance their careers, secure stable employment, and strengthen Philadelphia’s workforce.

Entrepreneurship & Small Business Incubator

GGEC’s Entrepreneurship & Small Business Incubator supports aspiring entrepreneurs with the tools and guidance needed to launch and sustain successful businesses. Participants receive mentorship in business planning, branding, and financial management, along with one-on-one coaching to develop viable ventures. This program fosters local economic growth by nurturing minority- and women-owned businesses that create jobs and uplift communities.

Financial Literacy & Economics

GGEC’s Financial Literacy & Economics Program empowers youth and adults with essential money management skills. Participants learn budgeting, credit management, saving strategies, and debt reduction to support long-term financial stability. Through practical, real-world instruction, families gain the knowledge needed to build wealth, plan for the future, and break cycles of financial insecurity.

Computer Technology & Coding

GGEC’s Computer Technology & Coding Program provides training in basic computing, software literacy, and introductory programming for youth and adults. Designed to bridge the digital divide, the program prepares participants for technology-driven careers and certifications while building confidence in essential digital skills. Graduates gain pathways into IT, tech support, and emerging technology fields.

Digital Media & Graphic Design

GGEC’s Digital Media & Graphic Design Program equips participants with creative and technical skills in photography, video production, and graphic design. Students learn to develop professional portfolios while preparing for careers in digital marketing, social media, and creative industries. This program amplifies creative expression while building marketable skills for today’s digital economy.

Barbering & Cosmetology Training

GGEC’s Barbering & Cosmetology Training Program transforms creativity into sustainable careers. Participants receive hands-on instruction in barbering, hairstyling, skincare, customer service, entrepreneurship, and hygiene standards while preparing for state licensing. Graduates gain the skills to secure employment or open their own salons and barber shops, serving as neighborhood role models and contributors to local economic growth.

Signature Soy Candles & Body Care Program

GGEC’s Signature Soy Candles & Body Care Program blends creativity, sustainability, and entrepreneurship. Participants craft organic soy candles, body care, and home products while learning branding, packaging, and retail marketing. This program fosters independence, confidence, and pride—particularly for women reentering the workforce or rebuilding after hardship—by turning creative expression into viable small businesses.

Signature Gift Baskets Program

The Signature Gift Baskets Program combines creativity and commerce by training participants to design and assemble high-quality gift baskets featuring local and organic products. Participants gain experience in presentation, marketing, and customer service while developing entrepreneurial skills. This program celebrates community pride and supports local artisans through small-scale retail opportunities.

Culinary Retail Café & Bakery

GGEC’s Culinary Retail Café & Bakery Program prepares participants for careers in hospitality, baking, and retail food service. Training includes customer service, food preparation, and operations management while serving healthy meals to the community. The café functions as both a social hub and a workforce training site, creating pathways to employment, apprenticeships, and entrepreneurship.

Commercial Kitchen Incubator

GGEC’s Commercial Kitchen Incubator supports food entrepreneurs by providing access to licensed kitchen space, equipment, and mentorship. Participants develop and test food products such as baked goods, sauces, and catering menus while learning food safety, branding, and distribution strategies. This program helps local chefs and caterers turn culinary talent into sustainable businesses.

Gardening & Urban Agriculture

GGEC’s Gardening & Urban Agriculture Program teaches residents how to grow their own food, maintain community gardens, and reconnect with the environment. Participants learn organic farming, composting, and healthy food preparation while restoring pride in underutilized spaces. This initiative promotes food security, sustainability, and community wellness through hands-on agricultural education.

Animal Care & Pet Training

GGEC’s Animal Care & Pet Training Program provides education in animal wellness, grooming, veterinary assistance, and responsible pet ownership. Participants gain hands-on experience through workshops and community clinics while exploring career pathways in animal care. The program also promotes compassion, healing, and emotional connection—especially for youth and seniors—through therapeutic engagement with animals.

Place of Worship & Spiritual Enrichment

At the heart of GGEC is faith and spiritual growth. The Place of Worship & Spiritual Enrichment Program offers a welcoming space for prayer, reflection, and community connection. Through services, faith discussions, mentorship, and outreach, the program promotes love, unity, and compassion while supporting emotional and spiritual well-being for individuals and families.

Mental Health & Counseling Services

GGEC’s Mental Health & Counseling Services provide free and low-cost therapy, group support, and trauma-informed care in a judgment-free environment. Licensed counselors and peer mentors support individuals navigating stress, loss, and recovery. The program serves youth, parents, veterans, and others rebuilding after hardship, helping restore hope, stability, and emotional wellness.

Substance Abuse Recovery & Support

GGEC’s Substance Abuse Recovery & Support Program offers counseling, group therapy, and life-skills coaching for individuals overcoming addiction. Through partnerships with recovery specialists and community sponsors, participants receive guidance, accountability, and encouragement on their journey toward stability and self-worth. This program supports individuals and families in transforming recovery into long-term healing and purpose.

Housing Support & Transitional Services

GGEC’s Housing Support & Transitional Services Program assists individuals and families in securing safe, affordable housing while building financial stability. Case managers help participants navigate housing applications, utilities, and community resources, while providing education on tenant rights and budgeting. The program strengthens housing security and reduces homelessness through coordinated support and advocacy.

Reentry Program for Formerly Incarcerated Individuals

GGEC’s Reentry Program supports returning citizens as they rebuild their lives after incarceration. Participants receive mentorship, employment readiness training, emotional support, and connections to workforce and trade opportunities. The program promotes accountability, healing, and second chances by helping individuals reintegrate successfully into their families, workplaces, and communities.

Minority Youth Justice & Second Chance Program

GGEC’s Minority Youth Justice & Second Chance Program empowers at-risk youth through education, mentorship, legal awareness, and personal development. The program focuses on prevention, leadership building, and positive alternatives to incarceration by addressing the root causes of involvement with the justice system.

Participants gain life skills, community service experience, and pathways to higher education, workforce training, and civic engagement. By promoting accountability, restoration, and purpose, the program helps young people break cycles of poverty and incarceration while building futures grounded in faith, responsibility, and opportunity.

Science, Technology & Innovation Program

GGEC’s Science, Technology & Innovation Program expands access to STEM education for youth and adults in underserved communities. Participants explore robotics, hands-on experiments, environmental science, engineering basics, and innovation labs that foster curiosity and problem-solving skills.

The program prepares participants for high-demand STEM pathways while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and ethical innovation. By introducing science and technology education in a supportive, faith-affirming environment, GGEC equips learners to pursue academic success and careers that positively impact their communities.

Peer Mentorship & Youth Counseling Certification

GGEC’s Peer Mentorship & Youth Counseling Certification trains youth and young adults to become positive role models and trusted peer leaders. Participants learn foundational mentoring skills, emotional awareness, communication, conflict resolution, and anti-bullying strategies to support emotional wellness and healthy decision-making among their peers.

This certification empowers youth to lead with compassion, accountability, and confidence while helping create safer, more supportive schools and communities. It also provides an early pathway into careers in counseling, education, social services, and community leadership.

OSHA Workplace Safety Certification

GGEC’s OSHA Workplace Safety Certification Program prepares youth and adults for safe, responsible employment in construction, skilled trades, manufacturing, and general workforce environments. Participants receive training in hazard recognition, workplace rights, injury prevention, and proper safety procedures aligned with OSHA standards.

This certification increases employability while promoting accountability, discipline, and respect for life in the workplace. Graduates enter job sites better prepared to protect themselves, their coworkers, and their communities.

CPR, First Aid & Community Emergency Response (CERT)

GGEC’s CPR, First Aid, and Community Emergency Response (CERT) Program equips participants with critical, life-saving skills needed to respond confidently in emergencies. Training includes CPR, AED use, first aid, disaster preparedness, and community response coordination.

This program empowers youth and adults to serve as responsible leaders during emergencies at home, school, work, and in the community. Certification promotes service, readiness, and compassion—turning everyday individuals into first responders when it matters most.

Customer Service & Professional Conduct Certification

GGEC’s Customer Service & Professional Conduct Certification Program builds the essential soft skills employers seek across all industries. Participants receive training in communication, workplace etiquette, time management, conflict resolution, teamwork, and accountability.

This certification prepares individuals to succeed in professional environments while representing themselves and their organizations with integrity. By emphasizing professionalism and strong character, the program helps participants build lasting careers rooted in respect, responsibility, and confidence.
